A Hidden Gem - Anonymous

There used to be this little tiny cafe located off HWY 90 in Sugar Land. My dad and I visited there when my daughter was just a baby. We fell in love. It was true Mediterranean food that we both loved and I haven’t had a grape leaf (dolmas) spark a memory like the one I had with Anonymous. (My Great Aunt, my daughter’s namesake, made them for parties growing up and I used to eat 200 of them and honestly still do….)

But, the cafe closed for a while and ended up opening in this other super cute new place right off of Kirby inside the loop (right next to my house WAHOO.) It’s truly a one-of-a-kind, mom-and-pop shop owned by a wonderful Greek couple.

*If you have dietary restrictions, be sure to let them know when you’re ordering at the counter. If you don’t have dietary restrictions and you don’t get a dessert, you should be ashamed of yourself. Honestly, it would be a sin not to get one.

Here’s what I always get as someone who is gluten-free, dairy-free, and nightshade-free.

The portions are large, so when my husband and I go for lunch, we normally split everything.

  • Grape leaves (They call them Dolmadas) - cheese on the side for the hubby

  • Hummus plate - they put everything on the side for us, including cucumbers instead of pita

  • Chicken Kebab with french fries of course (Technically white potatoes are a nightshade, but I have found tomatoes and peppers are what create the most inflammation for me.)

*Luckily they left all of the dairy and gluten on the side incase the hubs wanted some.
